Overview
Providing transit can help promote pedestrian-oriented environments and create equity. Transit vehicles require need adequate room in the right-of-way and comfortable and convenient stations. These facilities require space both in the carriageway and on the sidewalk. Wherever possible buses should have a place to pull to the side of the road so as not to obstruct traffic. If possible, enough space should be set aside for bus shelters that are well designed and well-appointed with benches, lighting and signage.
